Introduction:With the introduction of Open Source Software (OSS) the software sector has taken a new dimension. OSS arena has come into picture by beating themost popularly used proprietary software solutions. Traditionally, software solutions were developed and controlled by the developer. This drawback along with the increasing demand for communication, made users and firms opt for OSS, which gives the freedom to acquire, modify and customise the source code. One among the emergent players AdventNet has consolidated its position in the OSS market through the launch of a new Web-based service named Zoho, a suite of 19 applications like Zoho Writer, Zoho Creator, etc. These applications are similar to that of Microsoft Word and Excel, with the only difference that Zoho enables users to work online from anywhere. Web-based services are presently all the rage, as they are blurring the line between working from home and office. Even big players like Microsoft and Google are launching different tools in Web world. In this scenario, can Zoho gain acceptance in the ever-changing world of software despite a significant rise in its performance and recognition? Will it be able to succeed and sustain in the market ruled by giant players? |
